Notes: Schileyko (1992, op cit.) proposed the new genus Tonkinodentus for one individual of this ostensibly new form that was missing the critical last three pairs of legs and placed it in the Theatopsinae (Cryptopidae). Shelley (1997, Brimleyana, 24:54) stated that the Plutoniuminae is implausible for Tonkinodentus, and therefore removed the genus from the subfamily, leaving it unassigned. Schileyko (2007, Arthropoda Selecta 16: 83) published an extended redescription of T. lestes including a paratype with ultimate legs and showed that it actually belongs to the Scolopendridae. He did not assign it to a subfamily.
