Last taxonomic scrutiny: Bonato L., Minelli A. (2004). The centipede genus Mecistocephalus Newport 1843 in the Indian Peninsula (Chilopoda Geophilomorpha Mecistocephalidae) - Tropical Zoology, 17: 15-63, see p. 49.

Notes: This species was described upon alien specimens of unknown origin. Records hae been published from many tropical regions but, because the true identity of the species has been often misinterpreted, its actual distribution remains unknown.
